Universal Music Group (also known in the United States as UMG Recordings, Inc. and abbreviated as UMG) is an American global music corporation that is majority owned by the French media conglomerate Vivendi, with Chinese tech company Tencent owning a minority stake. UMG's global corporate headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California. The biggest music company in the world, it is one of the "Big Three" record labels, along with Sony Music and Warner music group  Ten percent of Universal Music Group was acquired by Tencent in March 2020 for US$3 billion.

In 2019, Fast Company named Universal Music Group the most innovative music company and listed UMG among the Top 50 most innovative companies in the worldand "amid the music industry's digital transformation, Universal is redefining what a modern label should look like. UMG has signed licensing agreements with more than 400 platforms worldwide.

Coming to the Universal Music India (UMI) was launched in 1999; it is a part of the Universal Music Group, an American-based, French-owned multinational music corporation. Universal Music Group operates as a subsidiary of Paris-based media conglomerate Vivendi. Universal Music India is registered with the Indian Music Industry, a trust that represents the recording industry distributors in India. UMI appointed Indian Rock God Devraj Sanyal (the voice of Indian Rock) as its managing director in 2011, succeeding Rajat Kakar, managing director of Universal Music India for the previous eight years.^[1]

Universal Music India brings the news, album updates, tour updates, trivia, of artists worldwide for their fans.^[2] The 'Whats Hot Now' list includes a number of artists from the Universal Music Group (currently including Eminem, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Enrique Iglesias, Avicii, Justin Bieber, Lorde and many more) and their details, album launches, tour dates etc.^[3]

Its most popular album was a five-volume CD/VCD/cassette series called UMI - 10 (Universal Music India - 10) which features only remixes of old Hindi songs like "Koi Sehri Babu, Akkhiyaann Milakay , Saiyaan Dil Mein Aana Re, and Kaliyon Ka Chaman".
